On October 17, 2024, Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of SHIPU, reaffirmed the Unit’s dedication to fighting misinformation while attending the launch of the DisMisFakeNews campaign at Next Media. The event brought together key stakeholders in Uganda’s ongoing effort to combat the growing threat posed by fake news, misinformation, and disinformation.

In an exciting development, Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of SHIPU, was interviewed by Karen Hernandez, a senior journalist at Forbes Africa and Country Director of PENRESA, a multinational branding agency.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appealed to the youth to engage in wealth creation to fight unemployment. 

“When you engage in wealth creation you create jobs. The source of jobs is wealth creation,” he emphasised.

The President made the remarks on Saturday 5th October,2024 while meeting a group of youth leaders at State House Entebbe. 

On October 2, 2024, Col. Edith Nakalema, head of SHIPU held a productive meeting with Mr. Charles Mbire, Chairman of MTN Uganda, the country's largest taxpayer. The interaction focused on enhancing collaboration between SHIPU and MTN Uganda to promote investment and economic growth.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has rallied academicians to find lasting solutions to the recurring burden of youth unemployment in Uganda.

Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, has urged Ugandan youths to take responsibility in fighting the pressing issue of corruption.

According to Brig. Gen. Isoke, the youths should reflect on their own contributions towards the fight against the vice.
