AUSTRALIAN INVESTOR SEEKS SHIPU'S INTERVENTION TO FAST-TRACK BUSINESS OPERATIONS IN UGANDA

This morning, SHIPU officers met with Dr. Gerald Joseph Nyasulu, an Australian businessman of Malawian origin, along with his team, including Mr. Alex Edgar Echum and Counsel Jonathan Kavuma.

Dr. Nyasulu, who is also a minister of the word at Streams International in Australia, sought SHIPU’s intervention to address delays hindering the commencement of full business operations in Uganda.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema yesterday met and held fruitful discussions with the Makerere University Students’ Guild leadership.

During the meeting held at SHIPU offices in Kampala, Col. Nakalema acknowledged the role of the students’ Guild, saying that at the unit they are delighted to see young leaders seeking to play a crucial role in advocating the interests of the youth in higher education institutions.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema yesterday met and held discussions with officials from Buganda Kingdom's Ebikabyaffe Foundation, at the unit's offices in Kampala. 

The Executive Director of Ebikabyaffe Foundation, Omutaka Blasio Mutanda Kawule, who represented Omutaka Augustine Kizito, the chairman of the Council of Clan Heads in Buganda Kingdom, informed Col. Nakalema that the foundation aims at instilling good morals and values among the young generation.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has urged the Makerere University graduates to offer solutions to problems of society and embrace different attitudes towards employment by being their own employers. 

According to Col. Nakalema, this will help them to thrive in Uganda's competitive job market. 

“You should also arm yourself with morals and Integrity. There's a huge moral deficit that we need to plug, fix that lackadaisical work ethic and demonstrate unparalleled levels of professionalism,” she said.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has reiterated the government's commitment to create sustainable employment opportunities for the youths. 

According to Col. Nakalema, one of the avenues where the youths could be employed is Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). 

BPO is a business practice in which an organization contracts with an external service provider to perform an essential business function or task.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has revealed that the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector can play a crucial role in creating employment opportunities for the youths in Uganda. 

BPO is a subset of outsourcing that involves the contracting of the operations and responsibilities of a specific business process to a second-party service provider.

“We are looking at a number of educated youths. BPOs can provide big opportunities to occupy them productively,” she said. 

COL. NAKALEMA MEETS INDIAN BUSINESS FORUM OFFICIALS

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has today met and held discussions with officials from the Indian Business Forum. 

The officials were led by the forum’s Director General Mr. Rajesh Kumar. 

During the meeting, Col. Nakalema assured the investors that the unit which was established in May,2023 by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni aims at simplifying processes and creating a transparent, corruption-free investment landscape in Uganda.

The State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) has been awarded for their innovation- the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP).

The unit was recognised with a special Award for its innovation that tackles a special problem in Africa during the Innovative Management Awards held during the 43rd African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) round table conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala on Thursday 28th November 2024.
