On October 17, 2024, Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of SHIPU, reaffirmed the Unit’s dedication to fighting misinformation while attending the launch of the DisMisFakeNews campaign at Next Media. The event brought together key stakeholders in Uganda’s ongoing effort to combat the growing threat posed by fake news, misinformation, and disinformation.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appealed to the youth to engage in wealth creation to fight unemployment. 

“When you engage in wealth creation you create jobs. The source of jobs is wealth creation,” he emphasised.

The President made the remarks on Saturday 5th October,2024 while meeting a group of youth leaders at State House Entebbe.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has rallied academicians to find lasting solutions to the recurring burden of youth unemployment in Uganda.

According to Col. Nakalema, the rampant unemployment rate in Uganda exacerbated by corruption levels and the failure for the youth to access policy makers, needs concerted efforts of all stakeholders to find both short-term and long-term solutions to tame the likely outcomes.

BRIG. GEN. ISOKE URGES THE YOUTHS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN FIGHTING CORRUPTION

Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, has urged Ugandan youths to take responsibility in fighting the pressing issue of corruption.

According to Brig. Gen. Isoke, the youths should reflect on their own contributions towards the fight against the vice.

“As much as you blame the government, what have you done to ensure that corruption is fought? Each one of us has a role to play.”

The meeting that took place today at the unit's offices in Kampala, mainly centred around career guidance to students through technological innovations and how they can use these innovations to solve the problems of society.

Edith Nakalema, the head of SHIPU highlighted the indispensable role of strategic leadership in the evolution of MSMEs. In a call to action, she emphasized the critical need for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt strategic leadership and robust business structures, urging them to identify sustainable markets as a cornerstone for growth and transformation into larger enterprises.
